First Hyperthermia Machine in Sabah raises hopes for cancer patient in the state
KOTA KINABALU: The launching of the first Hyperthermia Machine in Sabah is a huge step towards creating a healthier and better hopes for cancer patients in this state, said Minister of Community Development and People’s Well-being (KPMKR), Datuk James Ratib.
“Tonight, we celebrate new frontiers in healthcare for a promising healing outcome in challenging disease, such as cancer.
“This launch is a testament to our commitment in advancing solution in healthcare, promoting awareness about newer modalities in cancer treatments and providing cutting edge solution to Sabahans.
“It is our responsibility to ensure that healthcare in Sabah should reach the public from all walks of life. We are also striving to ensure quality in healthcare for the benefit of our people,” he said.
In recent years, added James, “the Sabah state goverment has been proactive in addressing healthcare delivery in our state. These efforts reflect our commitment to the well-being of our people.
“I has informed that Cyberjaya Central College Kota Kinabalu and Klinik Famili Dr Juliana have conducted training sessions for nursing graduates and the public on Breast Cancer screening from 5th to 6th of October 2023.
“This initiative is exemplary and welcomed by my ministry along with oncologist from both Korea and Malaysia,” he said.
Cancer Treatment With Hyperthermia Treatment through deep heat
Hyperthermia is a type of treatment in which the body tissue is heated to as high as 420c to help damage and kill cancer cells with little or no harm to normal tissue. Hyperthermia to treat cancer is also called THERMAL THERAPY, THERMAL ABLATION, or THERMOOGRAPHY
James who is also Sugut Assemblyman continued that, the invaluable exchange of information to improve cancer management in Sabah is very much welcomed.
“I was made to understand that Cyberjaya Central Collage has conducted a Sabah Healthcare Symposium including a new gadget for pain management and have invited a notable physiotherapist and chiropractor from Korea, Dr Seong Mo Yoo to conduct a teaching workshop on the 7th October at the campus in Kota Kinabalu.
“I am also delighted to note that NGO’s such as Pink Ribbon, MAKNA, Palliativecare Association of Kota Kinabalu and Cancer Society members of Sabah are here tonight to spread this awareness amongst those who are in need of these treatments.
“Lets us come together to work hand in hand to create a healthier and better hope for cancer patients in this state. Thank you and let us embark on this promosing journey towards better healthcare for all,” he said.
He was speaking when officiating the Launching Project of the first Hyperthermia Machine in Sabah at Le Meridien Hotel recently. The text of his speech was read by KPMKR Deputy Permanent Secretary, Maria David Edick who also represented him in the event.
“I am indeed honoured to be here to launch Sabah’s First Hyperthermia Machine. It is my pleasure to be part of the collaboration of University of Cyberjaya, Cyberjaya Collage Kota Kinabalu, Klinik Famili Dr Juliana, Adipolabs Malaysia and Adipolabs Korea for organizing this event as part of their promotion with the motto “Empowering Lives through Innovation” event,” he said.
